Propellers & anchors
Two things this yard has built for a very long time. Feathering propellers since 1960, and storm anchors cast from US ductile iron. Same phone number for more than 75 years.
Luke Automatic Feathering Propeller
Best suited to the cruising sailor who wants a dependable propeller under power and would enjoy an extra knot and a half under sail.
The helical twist in the blades gives true pitch, which makes the propeller more efficient under power than a flat bladed feathering prop, and remarkably effective in reverse.
Each one is custom crafted from an aluminum bronze alloy in East Boothbay, Maine, with robust gears in the blades and hub.

“If the propeller ever does something you don't expect… Grease it.”

The propeller ships full of grease and ready for use, which is good for three or four months of normal use. After that it can be repacked easily, on land or by a diver under water, through the brass plug in the side of the casing.
Luke Storm Anchor
Three pieces, US ductile iron, hot dip galvanized, so it comes apart and stows in an out of the way locker.
Different bottoms want different anchors. Ours tends to hold where others do not.

We suggest a boat keeps a few anchors for a variety of bottom conditions. Different designs are good for different bottoms.
